dc.description.abstract | The present study aims (i) to explore the thoughts of 7 teachers and 126 non English majors at General English Department, Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, Hoa Sen University about the textbook “English File 3rd edition - Elementary” and (ii) to investigate the strengths and weaknesses of the textbook. The evaluation was conducted based on the data collected from the teacher and the student subjects in the form of questionnaires and interviews. The 35-item questionnaire using the 5-point Likert scale rating from “1=Strongly Disagree” to “5=Strongly Agree” was employed to elicit the participants’ responses to five main categories including Overall Evaluation, Evaluation on Organization, Evaluation on Physical Appearance, Evaluation on Contents, and Evaluation on Appropriateness to HSU’s students. The results of the evaluation show that both the teachers and the students had active perceptions regarding the appropriateness of the textbook and it is suitable to the English teaching and learning process at Hoa Sen University. | |
