dc.description.abstract | In order to get students thinking statistically, this text stresses interpretation and communication of statistical information through hands-on, activity based learning using real data. Written in compliance with the GAISE college report and employing techniques based on modern research into student learning, this text places emphasis on how concepts apply to students and the world around them, then gets into methods using data analysis tools or hand-calculations where necessary. This 6th Edition contains new sections on randomization-based inference: bootstrap methods for simulation-based confidence intervals and randomization tests of hypotheses. These new sections are accompanied by online Shiny apps, which can be used to construct bootstrap confidence intervals and to carry out randomization tests. | |
